Can not connect

Windows All Versions.
After installing RconMax for the first time and correctly adding your servers connection information if RconMax fails to connect to your server check setting for your "system locale"

The system locale determines the default character set (letters, symbols, and numbers) and font that you use to enter information and that are used to display information in programs that do not use Unicode. This allows non-Unicode programs to run on your computer using the specified language. You might need to change the default system locale when you install additional display languages on your computer. Selecting a different language for the system locale does not affect the language in menus and dialogue boxes for Windows or other programs that do use Unicode.

XP: Go to... Start / Settings / Control Panel / Regional and Language Options
Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Language for non-Unicode programs (System Locale), click Change system locale. Select English then click OK. You may have to restart your PC.

Vista: Go to... Start / Settings / Control Panel / Regional and Language Options
Click the Administrative tab, and then, under Language for non-Unicode programs (System Locale), click Change system locale. Select English then click OK. You may have to restart your PC.

Can not connect

Windows XP SP2
RconMax runs but will not connect. Go to your RconMax installation folder, by default this will be "C:\Program Files\RconMax(MW)\" and right click on your RconMaxMW.exe.
Choose Run As. Choose "The following user" and select / enter the administrators account name (probably "administrator") and the password for the adminstrator account. Click OK. This will run RconMax using the administrator account.

Loosing connection

You are running RconMax for long periods of time maybe 24/7 and every so many hours it stops working / loosing it's connection. Check the power management settings for your net work card and make sure Windows is not putting it to sleep / turning it off to save power.
