Words Lists

The is where you maintain your bad and good word lists for LCM.

RconMax Banned Word List Tab

When the players chat is scanned for infringements LCM looks for the existence of any ban word anywhere in the chat string (sentence).

So if a player typed:

OMG TEAMS you should use auto assign you dumb asses

Using the example bad and good word lists below the chat sting would be scanned and the "ass" would be found twice. First it would be found in the word "assign" and secondly it would be found in the word "asses".

Because "assign" has been defined as a good / accepted word this would not be counted as an infringement. However "asses" has not been defined as a good / accepted word so this would be counted as an infringement.

Bad Word List

The bad word list is where you add the words that you want to ban.

Bad words can be categorised into any one of four Ban Types:

  • OW - Only Warn.
  • CW - Count Warn
  • KI - Kick Instant
  • BI - Ban Instant

For example:

  • poo
  • ass
  • git
  • shit
  • duck
  • omfg
  • wtf

When adding a new word to the Bad Word List the default Ban Type is CW. CW has the same effect as the Auto Warn function in previous version (1.0.6 and earlier).

If Use Only Warn is enabled on the Settings tab players who use words categorised as OW will be warned but the infringement will not be counted and will not result in a kick / ban.

If Auto Warn is enabled on the Settings tab players who use words categorised as CW will be warned and the infringement will be counted and may result in a kick / ban.

If Use Kick Instant is enabled on the Settings tab players who use words categorised as KI will be immediately kicked from the server.

If Use Ban Instant is enabled on the Settings tab players who use words categorised as BI will be immediately banned from the server.

Good Word List

The list of good / accepted words. For example:

  • assign
  • class
  • poor

If a bad word appears in a good word then LCM will ignore it.

Settings

This is where you control the setting that affect the way LCM will work and define the messages that LCM will use.

RconMax Banned Word Settings

  • Greet Players - Enable this to send an announcement / greeting as players join the server. The greeting will be sent when a join record is first received for a player.
  • Greeting - The message used to announce a players arrival on the server. Requires Auto Greet to be enabled. You can use the tag {playername} in your greeting message. This tag will be automatically replaced with the player name with the greeting is sent to the server.
  • Auto Warn (CW) - When checked warnings will be issued when the amount of infringements counted against a player is equal to or exceeds the Warn At value set on the Words / Settings screen. Requires PBUCON to be running and Monitor Chat to be selected.
  • Warning - The message that is used when a players infringement counts equals or exceeds the Warn At value. Requires Auto Warn to be enabled.
  • Final Warning - The message that is used when the players infringement count is one less than the Kick At value. Requires Auto Warn and Auto Kick to be enabled.
  • Auto Kick (CW) - When checked players will be kicked when the amount of infringements counted against a the player is equal to the Kick At value set on the Words / Settings screen. The type of kick executed depends on the Kick Type selected on the Words / Settings screen. Requires PBUCON to be running and Monitor Chat to be selected.
  • Kick Reason - The message that is displayed after the player is kicked. Requires Auto Kick to be enabled.
  • Warn At - If Auto Warn is enabled this it the amount of infringements at which a player will receive their first warning. Warnings are then given to the player for every infringement there after. If Auto Kick is enabled a final warning is given when the players infringement count is one less then the Kick At value.
  • Kick At - If Auto Kick is enabled this is the amount of infringements at which a player will be kicked.
  • Kick Type - If Auto Kick is enabled then this is the action that will be executed when a players total infringements equals the Kick At value.
    • Kick Only - The player will be kicked. The player will be immediately able to rejoin the server.
    • Temp Ban - The player will be kicked and banned from the game server for the period of time defined in the Tamp Ban Duration on the Server General Tab.
    • Ban - The player will be kicked and permanently banned from the game server. Players are permanently banned when their GUID and name are added to the ban.txt file on the game server. To unban a player you can use the UnBan feature on the Players tab, or manually edit the ban.txt file on your game server.

Other

  • Close On Exit - When checked RconMax will automatically close PBUCON before it exits.
  • Archive Chat - Select this if you want to keep an archive of the LCM data. Chat data is saved in a csv file. A separate file is created for each server / day. The files are saved to individual server folders in your RconMax user folder. You can open the csv file with Notepad or a spreadsheet application such as OpenOffice Calc which is available for download free of charge from www.openoffice.org
  • Archive File Delimiter - This the character that will be used to delimit (separate) the columns in the archive file. Try to pick a character that does not appear often in the chat data. A pipe "|" or a semi colon ";" may be good however if you have players that use these characters in their names or in their chat you may want to choose some thing else.
  • Remove Spaces Before Checking - Enabling this tells RconMax to remove spaces from the chat before checking it for banned words. This is to catch those players who try to avoid a warning by adding spaces when they type banned words.

For example if you had added the word banana to the bad word list, a player may type:

OMG you big b a n a n a

with remove spaces this would become:

OMGyoubigbanana

and when this chat is scanned for the ban word it will be found.

A favourite for some players trying to avoid infringement warnings (and an eventual kick) is to add consecutive duplicate letters to a bad word e.g.

shiiiiiit

RconMax automatically checks for this by removing the duplicate letters. However, if you have for example banned the word god and a player says good then it will result in a warning, so you will have to consider this when defining the words that you are banning.

  • Use Only Warn (OW) - Disable if you do not want LCM to use words in the defined with this Ban Type.
  • Use Kick Instant (KI) - Disable if you do not want LCM to use words in the defined with this Ban Type.
  • Use Ban Instant (BI) - Disable if you do not want LCM to use words in the defined with this Ban Type.
  • Exact Match Good Words - Good words are removed from the chat before checking for bad words. When checked only good words that match exactly will removed for example "class" would be removed from the chat "What class are you using" leaving "What are you using". However "class" could not be removed from the chat "LOL that was classic".
  • PB Screen Shot Message - When checked a message will be sent informing informing players that a screen shot has been take and of which player.
  • Check Console Chat - When checked chat typed into the game console by a player will also be checked.
  • Log Read Freq - Sets the frequency in seconds that RconMax will read the PBUCON log file.
  • OK - Clicking OK will save the changes and close the window.

Attack Bind Check

This checks to see if players bound the attack command to the mouse wheel. If they have then RconMax will automatically Warn / Kick / Ban as selected.

Tips: LCM searches for part words so you do not have to add "duckling" to the bad word list if you already have "duck" in the list.

The player name tag {playername} only works when used in the greeting message.

The word lists are stored in text files in your RconMax user folder. The bad words are stored in the file bad.txt and the good words are stored in the file good.txt. You can edit these files directly however you must be careful to preserver the format of data in these files.

This is an example of the bad.txt file:

poo|OW
ass|CW
git|OW
shit|CW
duck|CW
omfg|CW
wtf|CW

This is an example of the good.txt file:

assist
class
poor
