This is where you can monitor the chat from players on your server and initiate automatic warning and consequences (kick / temp ban / ban) for failing to heed those warnings. The Live Chat Monitor or LCM function of RconMax uses PBUCON to get chat data from the server.

To add a player to the Approved Player List for Remote Admin, identify a player in the Player List and double click on that player. You will be asked to confirm that you want to approve the player.

If you are not using the Additional Player Updates option at the bottom of the LCM tab then players are only added to the player list when LCM received a Join record (when a player joins the server and at the beginning of each new map).

My IP And Port

PBUCON needs to know the internet IP address of your PC / router and the port number that your PC will be listening on for the chat data that will be streamed to your from your game server.

  • IP - The IP text box is for the internet (external) IP address of your PC / Router. Not the IP address of your game server.
  • IP - Clicking the IP button will cause RconMax to automatically try and get your internet IP address. If for some reason RconMax cannot get your internet IP address then you will need to key it in yourself. If you have a dynamic IP address then you may have to update this from time to time.
  • Port - The port text box is for the port number that you have allocated on your PC for PBUCON to listen for the data that will be streamed to your PC from your game server. Make sure that you do not try to use the same port number that the game is using. This is a UDP port and can be any port that is not currently in use on your PC / router. We suggest UDP port 1069 because this is normally free. You may need to open this port in your router / firewall, and you may need to forward this port from your router to your PC.

  • Infraction - The bad word that was detected.

  • Slot - The players slot. This is the PunkBuster slot number which is different to the COD4 slot number seen on the Players Tab.
  • Player - The players name.
  • Strikes - The amount of infractions the player has incurred.

Additional Player Updates

LCM can only count infringements for players and issue warning to players where there is a "match" between the player name on a chat record and a player name in the Player List. If the player name on a chat record is not in the Player List then there is a "miss match" and any infringement can not be counted.

Because players are ordinarily only added to the Players List in LCM when a join record is received (which is either when a player joins the server or at the beginning of each map) players who are already on the server before you start LCM would not get added to the Player List until the next map starts. During this time these players are a "miss match".

Also if a player changes their name during a map their name will not be updated in the player list until the next join record is received. Another "miss match".

  • Additional Player Updates - Checking this option will cause RconMax to request PunkBuster player lists from the server every 20 seconds or so. These PunkBuster player lists are then used by RconMax to update / refresh the LCM Players List so reducing the amount of time that players will remain in a "miss match" state.
  • Next Refresh - Indicated the duration until the next Additional Player Updates.
  • Players In List - This is a count of the players currently in the LCM players list. At certain times (like shortly after starting RconMax) this may not actually reflect the amount of players currently on the server. The players in list number is updated each time LCM gets a Join record, Leave record or Additional Player Updates.

Send Console Message

Use quick message text box to send console messages.

  • Colour Buttons - To add colour codes into your message text click into the text to put the cursor where you want the colour code to be inserted and click the required colour button.
  • Send - Sends the message written in the quick message text box.
  • Clear - Clear text from the quick message text box.

Tips: You need to choose a UDP port on your computer that PBUCON will use to listen for data sent from your game server (maybe UDP 1069). You need to enable this port in your firewall / router. If you have a router you may need to forward it to the local IP of your PC. (Key the port number in to RconMax manually.)

The players Slot Number seen on the Players Tab is the COD4 slot number and is different to the players Slot Number seen on the LCM tab which is the PunkBuster slot number. A player in PunkBuster slot 4 will be in COD4 slot 3.

The player list only populates when Join records are received. So if you start LCM after players have already joined the server you will not see them in the player list until the next round when the server sends join records again. Players are removed from the list when a Leave record is received.

LCM can only count infringements for players and issue warning to players where there is a "match" between the player name on a chat record and a player name in the Player List. If the player name on a chat record is not in the Player List then there is a "miss match" and any infringement can not be counted.

If a player changes their name during a round their name in the Players List will be updated when a new Join record is received for that player or or Additional Player Updates are used.

Due to the nature of UDP communications sometimes a Leave record may not be received. In this case that player will stay in the list until another player joins using the same slot number. At that point the new player will replace the old player in the player list.

Players who are not yet in the players list (miss match players) will still be warned, however the warning will not counted as a strike leading towards then defined consequence. Only when a player is in the players list can strikes be counted.
